Jan. '08 SPORT TRUCk magazine has a 4wd to 2wd article,...
Just got the new January '08 issue of Sport Truck magazine. Inside is a quick article about converting a 4x4 blazer, to 2wd. I know there is alot of interest in this so I thought I'd post this. Pretty informative and the swap was done by ECE, (Early Classic Enterprises).

Re: Jan. '08 SPORT TRUCk magazine has a 4wd to 2wd article,...
Sorry,... It 's a '72. They do only 4 color pages,... but they convert to trailing arms with the ECE "drop trailing arm" crossmember, factory front crossmember, dropped approximately 4.5" in the front and air bags on the trailing arms in the back. Pretty quick article and they left the engine hanging on a hoist in between the frame rails the whole time. I'd scan it,... but the scanners toast. Maybe someone else can???

Re: Jan. '08 SPORT TRUCk magazine has a 4wd to 2wd article,...
They didn't. I did learn that ECE sells used parts also. They used their traiing arms, and drop crossmember, rear air suspension, transmission crossmember and all their front parts including sway bar and drop brackets. They say if you want to save money,... you can just flip the 4x4 rearend on the factory leaf springs and go with a 6-lug rotor on the front. I suggest calling them. Makes me want a clean 4x4 to cut up. Hmmm,...

Dang, I was thinking about suggesting a how to on this and let them use my Blazer as the conversion truck (free labor?). I guess I'll just have to pickup the magazine.

Unfortunately there is little detail- mostly just an ECE ad. Most of the details needed to actually pull off the swap were left out, but pretty cool that they did it...

Re: Jan. '08 SPORT TRUCk magazine has a 4wd to 2wd article,...
It is very easy to do it, especially with their trailing arm crossmember. The front bolts in with you having to drill a couple of holes, unbolt, cut leafs out and slide 2wd crossmember in and drill then bolt, the rear I would assume is just as easy. My friend has done several of these, as 2wd are a bit more $$$ than a 4X4.
