Re: Found a Unexpected Treasure in my truck...

If nothing else, cab swap. The heart of the truck is not the cab. The heart of the truck is the truck As long as you still have the truck, original cab or not, it's still a family heirloom.

Ya, but most people think of the heart of the truck as the cab, because that is what holds the vin #. Besides that is where his papaw and him sat together.

Re: Found a Unexpected Treasure in my truck...

I dunno. Every cab is punched out at the factory 99.8% the same as the last one. VIN plates can be swapped. Arguably, the rust has a) taken away a good portion of the original steel they rode together in and b) made the truck relatively unsafe, and in need of expensive repairs - either monetarily, expensive time-wise, or both.

At some point you gotta cut your losses and think about the bigger picture. A replacement cab is going to put the seat at the same ride height, same location, look the same, feel the same and generally be nearly the exact same, but without the work and hassle involved.

If I got my face knocked off at work today and had to have it surgically rebuilt to look exactly the same, I'd still be me. People would still have the same memories with me. The same is even moreso true when you start talking about my heart
