GMC Longbed shorten w/leafs??

Hey all,

I have a 70 GMC longbed truck with a Chevy front clip on it. I will prob sell it, but was wondering if anyone has shortened a longbed frame that has rear leafs rather than springs/trailing arms? Just wondered how much diff the process would be.

Re: GMC Longbed shorten w/leafs??

The frames are the same, just the spring hangers and springs are there and not trailing arms..The chunk taken out to make a shortbed isn't between the leafs so no issues there.Basically the same as shortening one w/ trailing arms, just don't mess around with relocating the crossmember for the trailing arms forward.

Look up "lfd's low buck truck build" and you will find everything you need in a step by step thread.
