Show-Quality Custom Headliner Ideas
Many of you know I'm refurbing the interior of my 69 SWB. My attention is soon to turn to the headliner. Mine has none now, just stock steel, painted the same color as the exterior (med-dark metallic blue). I'd like to install something custom above my head but am undecided as to exactly what.
Interior theme is blue trim with white or creme carpeting and bucket seats, custom center console with a B&M TH400 floor shift. Amenities include MP3 player, PS/PB/Pwr windows and doorlocks, 250 Watt Amp, Xplod head unit, a pair of 12" subs, 6X9s in the doors, Custom Gauge cluster and gauges, lighted vanity visors and A/C. This is your opportunity to influence me (in a morally positive manner, may I add) toward something you feel people would say "Wow!" at when seen at a car/truck show. I'm not interested in the LMC plastic headliner with a pair of speakers in it. Here's a pic that interests me, just to get things started. C'mon and hit me with your best shot! Fire away!!!

Re: Show-Quality Custom Headliner Ideas
Good craftsmanship, but kinda busy IMO. I would smooth it out and run some graphics but leave the box and radio down low........ Bamm

Re: Show-Quality Custom Headliner Ideas
yeah, i agree. 1st, i would ask myself what I really needed up there. I wouldn't do a drop down or superfluous housings if they really aren't necessary. the cleaner/simpler, the better. the show winning rigs typically adhere to this principle, while the more sophomoric attempts tend to be over-done with , well, junk.

You're 100% correct Corn. I am sure it is what they wanted. And I still think (piping aside) that it is very good craftsmanship with the paint/graphics. It's just too "busy" for "my" tastes.........

Do a mural of the truck driving off into the sunset.
A contrasting Bowtie in a cloth headliner that matches the interior. A starscape. Just some ideas off the top of my head.

I too think the pic I posted up top is too busy, but it's intended as a "starter" for the thread. Who else has neat headliner pictures or ideas they can share? Keep em coming. Thx.

For me...I don't like the stereo in the headliner, just reminds me of a van. JMHO.

To each their own, but it's not my cup of tea. Keep the radio down below.
