Alternator mounting locations....
ok.. i've got a factory big block factory air truck... 1970... i am pretty sure that the alt is supposed to go on the drivers side.... but i can't find a upper mounting bracket for it... i am using a small block one now with the bolt not even in the slot part but out on the end of the bracket.... was the big block upper bracket the same just longer????? i can't find any info... does anyone have some pics or suggestions...

no luck on info..... the ones they show look the same as what i have but what i have is too short

Here's a closeup of the right bracket from my old 72 Custom Camper. Man, I wish I'd kept that truck!!!

ok, great info that looks just like what i have but mine is too short... the alt hits the valve covers.... does the small block one look just like that one???
heres a pic of what i have.... if i move the alt into the ajdusting slot it hits the cover.

The 68-71 BBC top bracket looks very similar to the SBC one you have, but it's longer.

those pics are dead on! I removed all of those parts today to change a leaky mainifold gasket.Easy to remove and replace.There is a strut type bar that mounts from the middle of the drivers side cylinder head to the top of the body bracket for support.
