There were 87's with 305/400 combos . I had a blue on blue Silverado a few years back that was a 305/400 combo . I think they were actually305/th375 but had the same pan as the 400 . I have seen many of the 305/400 combo trucks . What I have never personally seen is a 350/400 combo half ton . Frank

Re: It's mine!!! '87 C10 swb
Well i stand corrected you guy's are right.
I just dug out my original sales brochure and here's what it shows for available transmissions. On all R10 series gasoline powered trucks for 1987. Std......3-spd. man. column mounted. Opt......4-spd. man./O.D. it dosen't specify if it's column or floor mounted. Opt......3-spd. auto. Opt......4-spd.auto./O.D. The sale brochure dosen't state what auto tran's it is so i can't tell you for sure if it's a TH350 or 375, 400 you have. WOW...........I ordered my truck in Jan of '87 and i never even seen that in the brochure untill today i guess it's because i kenw i wanted the 5.7 & 700r4 combo so i really didn't look at that back then. M40 isn't always T400. In the 80's trucks, it just means 3 speed auto. Which auto it was depended on the GVW. Similar to GQ1 rear axle code which meant different things in the same year based on model and GVW.
