Re: Trimmed some grass at goodguys scottsdale

Dino great looking trucks (78 as well). I just bought a 63 SWB GMC that come home on Saturday. I have already been tossing ideas around with Nate for some new ideas. I like the ride height of you SWB, how is the ride quality? Would you do anthing different on the next one? What have you done out back for mod's?
This is my first 60-66 but have always liked them and when my wife said she liked the one in the pic below I knew one would show up sooner or later. Funny thing is the next day my CPR/First Aid instructor saw Low Buck in the parking lot and asked if I knew anyone that wanted an old truck. One thing lead to another and $1500 later I have a 7th project to build
Thanks for any input you might have.

Hey Dino, two questions...one is the bracing in the second pic you just posted, thats what I was asking you about in PM. Is that because of the lack of fenderwells? Also For all you bag guys, I know the purpose of the extra batteries but how do you keep them charged?...all routed to the alt?

Dino~ Thanks I just took every pic off the Porter build of your truck. I forgot you had that sweet engine cage, I will nee to steel that look. This is my first of this body style but I already have tons of ideas for them. Me and Nate first hooked up a few yrs back because we were both designing a special cut burb if you know what I am talking about So is your C4 one done yet? Yes I will be going just as low as yours, Equal is fine, second best (or lowest) will never do!

65fleet-do you mean the bracing of the bed sides? and the batteries are charged off the alt, and it works well, the alternator is only100 amps too,the same setup in my panel also, the batteries have enough power stored for the pump(60amps) that it never drains them, and it is easly recharges,I could easly get away with a one yellow top optima, but as much as i like hitting the switches its nice to have the power, if you need some better pics of any of the bed stuff let me know, dino

The 63-66 chevy hoods look better than the GMC IMO (notice that pic you posted has a chevy hood). I personally like 63's the most because of the wrap around windshield with the better looking hoods (vs 60-61) plus coil front susp. I wouldn't mind a 64-66 though My 61 has addressed all those: 64 hood, different susp, etc...

Another opinion I've formed about these: small window/step and big window/fleet seem to "jive" well. Just my preference though.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it

Dino you can have your thread back now

Re: Trimmed some grass at goodguys scottsdale

So is the hood diferance from the GMC to Chev just the turn signals? I brought mine home tonight and the hood looks very muvh like the pic except the turns or am I missing somthing? As the pic of Nate all I can say is he has on fine barber Mine gets done every 2-3 weeks with the dog clippers
Also I cant wait to see that frame as a roller! It looks very beefy to say the least. You are right the early hood looks great on that truck but I think it is due to the Patina more so than the hood it self.

only differance is the turn signal, has like an eyebrow around the signal, they both fit each other,no problems on that part,

That must be a old picture of Nate because his fingers are not wrapped up from me almost cutting them off a week or so ago!

FYI... never let Keith help load, or unload a motor/trans combo.

Finally able to fit a glove over my mangled left hand...
