I'm bored - lower the truck?

Sooo, this is what my truck would look like if it's lowered 6" front and back:

I'm thinking a flip kit in the rear (so 5-6" drop), and some 3" spindles and a coil cut off from the springs in the front (so about 5" drop), also the 31" rear tires stay on and the front mud-slingers get downsized to 27" for that racey stance Opinions? And just for reference, here's its stock ride height:

Re: I'm bored - lower the truck?

Nah man I haven't touched the springs, if anything it actually looks a bit higher in the rear now, beats me why. As for lowering it right - it will be lowered right, it's the usual 5/6 drop really, only I start from a bit higher than most of y'all, and instead of the usual 255/60-15 fronts and 295/60-15 rears I'm going LT215/75-15 fronts and LT33x12.5-15 rears (which are really like 31" in diameter, not anywhere near 33") - this should give me the looks and the stance, while still having all the load-capacity I may want.

I never liked lowered trucks with a 15" stock style rim and a lot of sidewall but thats just me. I prefer 17's for the lowered look.

Re: I'm bored - lower the truck?

Honestly I think it'll look funky with the fat meats on it. You definately need to lose some sidewall to pull it off.

And if you still want your normal load capacity, that's probably gonna go away when you lower it, because without a notch, anything more than maybe 300 pounds in the back and you'll be hitting frame with the axle.

I got a buddy that's 290 pounds, and when he sits in the back of my truck, it rests on the bump stops, and I'm only lowered about 4 or 5 inches in the back.

Re: I'm bored - lower the truck?

well, that solves it then - that's at least $250 that can be spend one something else, such as a fuel cell tank for the front of the bed

IMO... you need to get rid of those monster truck tires/wheels- before sticking any more money into a drop. That alone will drop your truck...

I am with you Ivan, and a minority here.... I like bigger meats (ok, that could be taken the wrong way ).. here is my old 82, with 32"s that I "photoslammed".

Re: I'm bored - lower the truck?

Silverstep's idea looks "right on" for your truck ---

or get some cheap stock rallyes and some 275/60 tires all the way around

c'mon --- you'll be surprised how good it'll look
