What exactly is that "stuff" you found in the oil pan? Metal shavings (bearings), nasty creamy goop (coolant), something else?

doesnt feeling metal shaveings,, more like just nasty looking dirt,,well silt maybe, with some little tye of chunks that you can break up in your fingers...no idea where icame from maybe some old gasket material got in it whule cleaning the intake.. i know there was nothing in it to start with, because th oil pan had nothing in it, i cleaned it myself so i know it was clean....its just gonna have to sit until i can get back to work and then i will pull the motor and go through it..hell gives me a reason to get that cam i been wanting, and with the way it sounded before the knocking started it will sound even better with a cam...
