Problem with seller on Ebay, what do you think?

I bid and won a 71-72 grille surround on ebay, seller outlaw_josey, looked like a real nice used peice. seller had listed in his add 24.95 shipping, so i bid it up to 177.50. seller sends me an invoice charging me 75.00 to ship it. contacted sell he stated he made a mistake on the shipping and was like sorry either pay it or he would relist it. i offerd to pay half the actual shipping witch was 87.00. he flat out refused. Am i wrong for being a little pissed or sould i have paid him? I understand mistakes happen but the shipping greatly influenced what my top bid was.

report to eBay pronto and state to the jerk that you are reporting him. I know that a lot of people claim that the auction is legal and binding, but I have never read the fine print.

you may call the helpline to get faster service.

I'd probably stir up a fuss. then if he decides to ship for the original amount, tell him to f off!!!

Contact EBay, they usually don't put up with that BS, I don't think they will let him re-list it on their site.

E-Bay doesn't tolerate crap like that. Report back to E-Bay and they will probably ban him from listing anything again. You have every right to be pissed off. All the fees should be listed exactly as they will appear on the invoive in the listing, at least thats my opinion.

I agree. As an Ebay seller since 1999. It is HIS problem. I have misquoted shipping several times. Had to take a loss. Oh well. My problem.
Contact Ebay. Good luck.

I also agree (member since 5/98). He has to take the loss. Hell I have taken a bath selling things on here that I did not double-check shipping charges on, but I will not go back on my word.

Re: Problem with seller on Ebay, what do you think?

I lost $100 on shipping one time because the ebayer calculator figured up the total on the box by size and weight and it was oversised and cost me more. I had to pay for that out of my own pocket. use ebays help link and the will help you.

Re: Problem with seller on Ebay, what do you think?

Complain loudly and early, otherwise Ebay and Paypal deny you.
it kind of sucks because you don't realy have time to work things out with a seller who is having a legitimate problem, but its how it is.
i learned the hard way.

Re: Problem with seller on Ebay, what do you think?

He could have changed the shipping once he saw he made the mistake. He got about $100 more than what I`ve ever sold a used grille for.

Re: Problem with seller on Ebay, what do you think?

I agree he should have taken the loss. I'm a power seller with 100% positive and I'd like to keep it that way, so when I make a mistake, it's just that....my mistake. I've made some errors in international shipping. I'm never real sure which shipping method works with heavier items being sent overseas. I sold some rocker arms and push rods to Sweden once and I made a mistake offering a shipping service that the part was too heavy for. I pretty much sent the parts and got nothing for them.

I think I'd tell him to keep it. And, it's probably wrong, but I'd hold back giving bad feedback so you won't get retalitory bad feedback in return. It's wrong to do that because now this crook keeps his good feedback, but if you want to keep your good feedback you gotta play the ebay game.

Re: Problem with seller on Ebay, what do you think?

You have every right to be pissed. I have underestimated shipping on ebay a few times but I had to eat the loss so I wouldn't lose my credibility from buyers. Report him, at the very least leave a negative feedback.

Re: Problem with seller on Ebay, what do you think?

When I ask seller questions regarding shipping or any other concerns I always log the emails into a folder. That way you have a record of the response. I've had to recall to their attention what I was quoted for shipping and have been fortunate they stood by what they said, and if there is a shipping discrepancy offer to split the additional. But alas there are some folks that jus dont act right.
