Re: 85 Camaro Rear End???

Why would you want to? They're POS 7.5" 10 bolts... And just get discs. off a 73-87 GM truck, they bolt right on.

Re: 85 Camaro Rear End???

not only that, the bolt pattern is smaller. it's 5x4.75, whereas on a truck it's 5x5. or in your case, 6x5.5

Re: 85 Camaro Rear End???

small brakes, weak rear... no point at all.
If you have a 12 bolt 1/2 ton rear... or a dana, I see no reason to remove it unless you have 500+ horses.

Re: 85 Camaro Rear End???

Well....mine is free too....but....I dunno. I think my theory wuz i have (if im right) a 1:3.73 rearend and the camaros wuz 1:3.42. I want it to be quicker from zero mph. I dont know. I doubt i do it. Just more crap that I dont need to do. I wanna lower my truck anyways so yeah....its probably not gonna happen. Wuts a cheap way to get disks out back? SOmeone above said I could go with 73-87 for the front and theyd bolt right on. Will that work 4 the back????

Free isn't necessarily better. Sounds like a make work project to me.

Re: 85 Camaro Rear End???

Camaro coil springs make the truck sit lower.

Re: 85 Camaro Rear End???

Why not just get new lowering springs? Or if you are trying to save money, cut the coils that are on your truck now. Again, sounds like a make-work project, where you think you're saving money but you're really just wasting time.

Re: 85 Camaro Rear End???

A 12 bolt truck rear has to be at least 3x as strong as the 7.5 from a camaro. Why do you want discs on the rear?

3:42 (higher gear ratio) will make you slower off the line than a 3.73 (lower gear ratio, higher numerically)

if you do a lot of Highway driving then the 3.42's would be better. 3.73's are better for red-light racing (although the differance probably isn't as noticable as one would think between those 2 gear sets)
