Rear End Swap

what rear ends bolt directly in place with no mods? I have a 3/4 ton and was wondering if a 1/2 ton 5 lug would bolt right in..

Re: Rear End Swap

i dont know why youd want to swap in a lighter duty rear.. the 3/4 ones are plentiful and relatively inexpensive..
the 1/2 ton would bolt in with the u bolts but i dont know if the driveshaft would.. you can search on one of the online auto parts stores if the u joints are the same part number ( which i doubt they are) and that would indicate if it would bolt in totally without mods or not

Re: Rear End Swap

yeah the spring is in the same place on the rear the differences would be on the Yoke where the driveshaft mounts up

Re: Rear End Swap

you can buy a conversion u-joint (one side is factory sized for the driveshaft and the other side would be to fit the smaller half ton gear) assuming the driveshaft will still be the right length all you will need is a new set of u-bolt's the conversion u-joint and may need new break lines if they are rusted out and parking break cables not sure if they are the same or not between 1/2 and 3/4 ton's What diff do you have now and what do you want to put in?
