SWB flatbed on a LWB with a tool box in front of it....
ok yall i have an idea..... lemme know what you guys think. a friend of mine has a SWB flatbed (just the bed) that he says is real nice that i might be able to get for pretty cheap. i have a fuel cell that im gonna put in somewhere in my truck. i was thinking i could put the SWB flatbed on my truck with a gap between the bed and cab and then build a box that the cell would sit in and then on both sides of the fuel cell, build i guess what you would call saddle tool boxes. i think it would be pretty cool but i wanted to see what you guys thought.
thanks, John

Not sure what it would look like, but what about a sleeper in that space? I don't know if they still make 'em, but years ago someone made a pickup truck sleeper out of fiberglass. And, I think they were only about 2' front-to-back. Your flatbed would have to have a headache rack on it to look right though.

There is also a company that makes "backpack" tool boxes designed just for that purpose, sort of, they are designed to go on extended length 1ton frames in front of the bed. Might do a search online. Jerry
