Question Antenna question...

Dumb question, but how do you remove the antenna from the cowl, does it unscrew or what?

Re: Antenna question...

To completely remove it you`ll have to remove the cowl cover.Start with the wipers, remove all the screws across the cowl and the two bolts on each end.
To remove the antennae from the cowl cover the basehas two flat spotsfor a wrench.Loosen andremove that and the antennae will pull through the hole towards the backside.

Re: Antenna question...

i have never removed the cowl to remove the antenna. just take it loose at the base. and the swing bracket under the cowl will position to come out. remove glove box to fish the coax out

Re: Antenna question...

I did the same as 72BLUZ...tookt he base off and used a set of needlenose pliers and removed it and coaxed the antenna out. Sort of like playing the operation board game...LOL

Re: Antenna question...

I never had much luck with that.I get frustrated with fishing the cable through the cowl and all, too.Removing`s ok,but reinstalling gets tidious for me.

Re: Antenna question...

not sure if this helps, but i use electrical tape to tape a long piece of wire(or string) to the end of the cable that plugs in the radio(long enough to stay under dash when other end comes out the hole).when you pull the cable out, just untape the cable and leave the wire hanging out.when your ready to go back in, just tape the wire back to the end and pull it back through.if youre installing a new antenna, just cut the old one at the base of the antenna, tape your new one to that, and pull it through using your old cable.works for me on cars at work, and you may not have to remove anything(as long as you tape the end smooth enough that the plug doesnt hang on anything).just a suggestion
