4 link question?
i want to run my bags on the lower 4 link tube, my kit came with twenty inch tubes, 24 inch when you count the hyme joints. my question is are these long enough to do this? or should i get some longer tubes for the bottom?

Re: 4 link question?
you generally want longer links, b/c putting the bag on the bar will move the rear end in a lot bigger arc. shorter bars with this motion are good about allowing pinion change. gotta remember, at SOME point in the arc, you'll get changes. longer the bars, bigger the arc, more lift before you reach this point.
also, i would be worried as in what thickness those are too.. you can use .120 or .125 for links that have no bag on them, but i'd go at least .188 if there is going to be a bag on them. (some will argue, but i've talked to famed builders such at Max and a few others, you dont need the gussets on the bottom of the bars if you're using .188 or .250 wall). I usually use 30-33" bars when i do links, that is on fullsize or minis, its my more common measurement. I can do bag on bar and have no problems way through 20-24" of lift. |
