Question for anyone with a holley 4160

I got a good deal on a Holley 4160 carb (600 cfm, vac secondary) and I am wondering how people ran the fuel line to the carb. I can think of a few ways to do it, but I want to keep the rubber line to a minimum. It anyone has a picture of how they ran the line I would apreciate it.

You can make a line out of steel, just go to a auto parts store, gets some metal line, bend and flare it. Or you can get ends to screw in the carb and pump and just run a rubber line between the two. Thats what I did on my 400, works fine as long as you keep it away from moving parts.

You will no doubt have to bend you own line. On the 0-1850(600 vac 2nd, & side pivot floats)they come with a "banjo fitting" with a barb for rubber hose at the fuel bowl. You can get a banjo that will accept a hard line(flairnut) through Summit racing. ill see if I can find it..... http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=11925

I am planning to bend my own line, and I will probably use just a small amout of rubber at the end so I can put a filter in it. The problem is, when I was looking at how I would run the line, it seems like there is stuff in the way of where it would need to go. I would never put rubber line from the pump on a vehicle I own. I am just looking for a picture of a line someone bent for one of those carbs so I can copy it. If there is a fitting to hook the hard line to the carb I would be intterested in that to though.

you could always go with braided steal lines

I run my stuff with hard lines, AN fittings into the mechanical pump, stainless 3/8 hard line runs up beside the water pump and along the top of the valve cover. I use the two valve cover bolts to secure my hardline and then over to the carb....another AN fitting there with a B nut on the stainless. Stainless line clamps are attatched to the valve cover bolts and hold the fuel line secure

The hard line runs right along the valve cover and basically dissapears, especially if the intake and valve covers are polished or chrome.

on another car with dual 4150's it runs from the fuel pump up by the water pump, across the top of the block where the intake meets up to the drivers side of the block, straight up to 90 degree bend and into an AN tee fitting, that tee fitting is into carb 1, the back of the tee fitting has more stainless hard line back to feed carb two which has a 90 degree AN fitting.

You can remove the blue anodizing from AN fittings with oven cleaner, or you can by them from some companies non-anodized.

While you have the tubing out, make another line 18" long and straight, use the same line clamps and attatch it to the opposite side valve cover, now you can run your temp sender wire thru it and you wont see the wire, it will match the other side, and you eliminate some flex loom.

Hopefully that makes sense?

That's what I wish I had. lol One like that would fit fine, but this carb has one fuel inlet one the other side, and the waterneck is right in the way.

I bent a hardline for one like that Larry.......it did have some chit in the way, & wasnt fun to bend! If you take a pc of welding wire, & make the bends to go around "obsticle course", you can use it for a pattern when bending the line. You might pick up 2 pcs of line incase 1 turns out scrap.......been there & done that!

Ok, I guess you see what I mean. lol I can't really see any way to bend it without putting a tight 90 degree bend in the line right before the carb. I will have to just try it and make a pattern first. That carb really doesn't seem like it was meant to go on a chevy. Maybe I should just sell it and get a dual feed one, I think that would be a lot eaiser to set up.
