Need belt size now smog pump is removed

86 3/4ton heavy duty 454. My smog pump finally went and I am removing it and not replacing it but was kind of curious does anyone know what belt part number I would get now that it is gone. I guess I could just measure it but it is snowing here and the truck is outside.

just go to any parts store and tell them you need a belt for your truck without smog pump

With the many years of trying to deal with the McDonalds drop outs that have upgraded to the parts stores......the above might seem like the correct way to go but to be safe and to keep from making 2 trips or 3 trips or 4 trips.............

Take a string and run it in place of where the belt would be. Mark it and check it against the belt they give you..

Exclamation Re: Need belt size now smog pump is removed

The string is a good Idea but an old belt even a broken one works best. Put it around the pulleys and mark or cut it to fit as if you could glue the ends together and it would work. This way you can take it to the parts store and they can put it in their belt gauge that will tell them exactly what the measurement is on the belt you need. It's a devise that looks a lot like one of those things that measures your foot at the shoe store except it has half a pulley on each end and the ruler in the middle gives the overall length. We use to get a lot of farmers, Hot Rod guys, and Industrial machine business and when there are no numbers on a belt and you don't have a book or data to put in the computer, that gauge is worth it's weight in gold.

Is your truck a serpentine belt system or a multi belt system?
Do you have a/c or not?
Let me know and I'll get the proper part numbers for you
