'68 GMC/Open Road Del Ray Camper
I just knew I could find another one of these if I looked hard enough. I was hoping for a big block though. I love the buckets and the fact that it only has 73,000 miles on it. I guess I could always sell the low mileage V-6 and replace it with a big block.

Re: '68 GMC/Open Road Del Ray Camper
Cool find. Is the back of the cab cut-out to the front of the campr like many are?

Re: '68 GMC/Open Road Del Ray Camper
I've never seen the single buddy bucket mounts. I am still trying to decide on it and/or its fate. I would really like to have a nice flatbed or 4x4 Motorhome.

Re: '68 GMC/Open Road Del Ray Camper
C'mon man, don't take the V6 out of it for a big block. That truck has a 351 E and should have more than adequate torque to do anything you want.

Re: '68 GMC/Open Road Del Ray Camper
Mike - Go for it. I have some red interior parts if needed.
I would suggest BB rather than V-6. Keep us posted - Bob

Re: '68 GMC/Open Road Del Ray Camper
Walk throug the back of the cab, which is why the buddy bucket and standard seat frame are missing. It has been sitting awhile but looks serviceable. Rust-through only on the battery tray, inner fender and lower passenger fender as suspected.

Bob...thanks...are you ready for a road trip to haul this one back? Probably makes more sense to just get it running where it is at and drive it home.

Re: '68 GMC/Open Road Del Ray Camper
Keep me on the list if you do take out the V6. I can arrange shipping if the price is fair!
BTW, You probably have a NP-435-GA tranny in it. Is reverse all the way to left and down or all the way to the right and down? Another way to tell is if the PTO plate is on the passenger side only. The SM420 is on the driver's side and the SM465 has plates on each side.

Re: '68 GMC/Open Road Del Ray Camper
CG...just another project to sit in the pasture at this point. So many projects, so little time...LOL!
67_C-30, I did not look at the tranny. I will have to wait on that but thanks for the heads-up on the different models. BTW...you are on the TOP of the list. I really would like to do a 4x4 big block. The wife is on-board with the 4x4 since she hates driving in the ice and snow and this would be a year-round camper. She just wants to have complete freedom to remodel and redecorate the interior...NO PROBLEM!!!!
