options for power steering and power brakes?

Looking to upgrade my 71 c10 to power steering and power brakes. what are my options? for the power steering i am mainly worried about bracketry, i know all the components needed for the swap, just not sure where to get the brackets. I have a 350 with the short water pump and center bolt motor mounts. also the junk yards around here don't have much for 67-72 trucks. as for the power brakes, can I just add a power booster or do i need to swap out the master cylinder and the proportioning valve as well? any info and help is much appreciated.

thanks,
russ

I thought you only need a proportioning valve for disc brakes. with drums you don't need it, is this correct? seems like I read that you can just add a power unit to the master cylinder for power drum brakes.

71's had disk brakes, but not all were power asisted. i say buy it all new,if you build a truck from junk parts you get all done to find you have a junk truck. brakes are a good place to spend alittle extra. ps brackets can be found on the parts board

Might be, but I'm fairly certain it is, I'll have to go out and look at it...

Re: options for power steering and power brakes?

yea my truck is a 71 and has disc up front and drum in the rear. I plan on adding the new stuff, just wasn't keen to spending 300 or so from Brothers and such for the whole kit. Thinking about it now though, for the booster, proper booster pushrod, master, prop valve and booster brackets, doesn't sound too bad for what you get.

thanks,
russ

Re: options for power steering and power brakes?

The upgrade to Power Brakes is simply the booster, bracketry, vacuum line, and fitting on the intake. I cannot remember if the push-rod is different on the MC. But if all is working well you really do not need to replace the MC, Prop, and associated lines. They will take some bending to reach their new homes but there is enough there to work with.

What you may find is that after the Power conversion that you start seeing some leaks down the line. I would just keep a careful eye on things for a short while.
