Take a look at early classic enterprise. I just saw spindles on there I think.

GMC Pauls sells a drop spindle for 73 and up. I believe you have to change the ball joints to use them.

Re: lowering a 68 3/4 ton!

are you wanting the truck to remain a 3/4 ton? Or are you wanting to convert it to 5 or 6 lug wheels

the spindles from ECE will work. You can also cut a coil from your springs, or install 1/2 ton lowering springs pre-made

and in the back, you would lower it like any other leaf spring truck - different shackles and hangers, or a flip kit -- if you wanted it low enough to justify a flip kit, i would think you might need 1/2 ton springs, or you could take a couple of leafs out of your existing spring pack

Re: lowering a 68 3/4 ton!

I'm pretty sure you can find the front end off a 72, they came with disc brakes. On mine I added 2.5 drop coils for a c10 and found a tire shop that would mount street tires on 8 lugs rims. On the rear I added 2' drop shackles, removed half the stack and dearched the springs 2", which over all from the factory height it lowered for front 4" and the back 7".

Re: lowering a 68 3/4 ton!

I have 2" beltec (for a 1/2 ton 6 cyl) drop springs in the front of mine and took two leafs out of the rear packs. I have tried a few different way's of lowering it. I first cut the stock springs and mono leafed the rear, I do not reccomend this. It was the perfect height, but rode very bad. I then put the drop springs in the front and added some of the leafs, it looks o.k. but is too high for me. I use the truck to haul myself to work, and to take the atv's to the dunes. When I loaded the big atv in the back (sportsman 500) it really dropped the truck and road like crap. So now I am going to make some shackles for the rear and put the other leafs back in. I am also going to cut the front drop springs (only until I can afford air ride springs for the front). The picture is when I cut the stock springs. I do not have any current one's with the drop springs and the new 265 60 r16 BFG's yet.

Re: lowering a 68 3/4 ton!

GMC Pauls has 3/4 ton drop coils, front and rear: http://www.gmcpaulstruckparts.com/67-72_d&s.htm
If you have leaf springs in the back, there are drop shackles and leafs available on the net, or you could do an axle flip...

Re: lowering a 68 3/4 ton!

Thanx for all good advices
I think i am going to swop the front drum brakes and suspension for a 72. That way i will keep the 8 lug and get improved braking with the disc brakes. That way it probably will be easy to lower the truck???
