new 69' diesel
Just got a 69' C/10 with an Isuzu 4BB1 3.6l 4cyl diesel and 5sp. only 85 hp, but 250 ft/lb of torque at 1500 rpm. cruises 60 mph at about 1600rpm. got about 28mpg on first tank. Not a racer, but more than enough power to go. Body is kind of beat, but going to use power train to repower another 69c/10 that i've got. Engine/tranny came from an imported Isuzu truck that was right hand drive, so upshifts from right to left. Kind of a strange bird, but fun for what it is.

That's really cool. And 28 mpg in one of these big old trucks, that's amazing!!

Re: new 69' diesel
Thanks for the positive responses-
Looks like a pretty comprehensive older conversion- has all gagues functioning in the dash. 24v start, 12v run. The thing will pop right over cold in 30 deg. weather without cycling the glow plugs- motor seems pretty tight. Can't wait to put it in my other 69 c/10 (my old man bought it off the lot in 69). |

Re: new 69'
That is a really cool mod. How did it get mounted in there? In the V8 or V6 spot? What kind of motor mounts does it use?
