73-80 81-87 Cabs

I'm sure this has been covered before but I don't remember exactly. To use a 73-80 nose like I have I have to have a 73-80 cab correct? Or are they interchangable? Got digging into mine and found the cab is worse than I thought. Needs cab corners, rockers, floorpans, kick panels, ETC. So If I could find a cab that is in much better shape that's what I want to do.

Re: 73-80 81-87 Cabs

The 73-80 front clips fit on either with no modifications to the cab less switching the correct wiper linkages and cowl on, while you have to modify an older cab to put the newer front clip on for the hood hinges and the other type of cowl.

Re: 73-80 81-87 Cabs

if you put a 73-80 clip on an 81+ cab you will have slits in the cowl where the 81+ hood hinges recess into. if you would seal them off, there would be virtually no difference in the cabs.

Re: 73-80 81-87 Cabs

if you put a 73-80 nose on the 81-87 cab you have to switch the wiper linkage as the newer cabs have longer nubs on em and it will hit the hood
