That one does not look like it is worth saving. Just drop it off at my house and I'll take care of it for you.

Re: Rust Free Lift gate?

It came from southern California and was listed on Ebay at least 3 times w/o a single bid. It will NOT be parted.

Re: Rust Free Lift gate?

How hard does shipping from the west coast to east coast hit the wallet? I might have to look that way for my next project.

Re: Rust Free Lift gate?

I worked out a deal with the seller before the purchase,so I got a better than average shipping rate. I talked with the shipper when he dropped it here and he said around $900. It was over 2000 miles. This particular shipper said it depends on the job/vehicle he's delivering or picking up. He only hauls 2 at a time.

Those hatches are really hard to find! Spray, pour, dip...anything you can do to rustproof/protect the inside of it. They rust from the inside.
Nice looking burb...

Let us know what you're looking for. We will pick it up for you, and have another get together out at the barn before you drive it home (no shipping allowed )

My sons burb has rust free lift and tailgate. He has no idea how lucky he is.

Re: Rust Free Lift gate?

CG's son doesn't know how lucky he is that his truck is STILL there. If CG woulda turned his back on it a little longer I woulda made a tow bar outta scrap parts laying around!
It's one sweet 'ole burb.

AGREE. I took mine to a place in Jackson MS. It cost $220 to get it dipped and EDP coated. It looks like an NOS piece now. Hopefully it will pay off in the long run.

Re: Rust Free Lift gate?

$900 for 2000 miles is a bargain considering I couldn't find anyone willing to make a 250 mile round trip cheaper than $350. I guess it takes a pretty confident man to pay for, and have a vehicle shipped, without actually seeing it or hearing it run. I'm keeping my eyes open for my next one. At this point I really don't need another or have a place for it so anything I looked at would have to be a bargain. I'm sure the right one will find me sooner or later. Until then I'm just going to wait it out.

Re: Rust Free Lift gate?

Uncle,
Nice find. I wish I would have stock piled parts while I was there. They were usually in really good shape and the prices were good.

Good luck,
Rich

Re: Rust Free Lift gate?

I hope that is still rustfree once the window is removed and striping is done.I sold one to a fellow member that looked that good and turned out to be too rusty to use.I never saw pictures and took his word.

Re: Rust Free Lift gate?

Nice piece but I think they are supposed to come with rust---so it may be a defect. To find out for sure, just bring it up to my yard and leave it for a year or two. My guess is that it would convert to the proper condition as the rest of these trucks. ---I'll make room in the back 40~~~.
