I used those same engine stands and mounts to. My frame was not notched so I had to cut the frame so they would bolt in the rear holes.

I too had to cut the frame. I just didn't do a straight cut so I made it wavey.. Those headers are Hedman Elite headers.. Here is the link. They went up in price since I bought mine. I paid $363 for them.. Check Jegs also... http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

ok so its almost time to drop this big biatch into the truck, I can use the sbc mounts but do I need the 62 and up towers and or can I use the small block ones as well?

The problem with the small block perches are header clearance. Unless you have some custom made it will be hard to clear them. The stock manifold will not work either.. Never know you may get lucky and not have any problems.. If anything get some later model mounts, they are inexpensive.

Mounts or perches? both for big blocks are pretty costly...about $78 apiece.

Try a pick and pull and get some from a 73 to 87.. You have to trim the frame on both sides about 1/2" .. You will probably have to redrill for new holes also. Try and set the engine back as far as you can... OH yeah.. Yes I mean perches and mounts. I would try the stock ones you have first though.. You might have trouble with the left side header but the right one will clear.. Go Figure.. At least these are the problems I had..

ok, thats kinda what I figured...geeesh this sounds like it will be waaaaay more than a days swap. guh! soooo getting jitters about doing it now. Ill definetly post a step by step of my swap for the way I do it. Stoked on the info you guys are posting but just hearing way too many different options/ways of going about doing it.

Not to hijack the thread but... what do I need to do with mine? I have a 4 inch Z and 1 inch lowered cab mounts. Do I need to move my smalll block up 3 inches? Thsi is what i have heard I have just been making sure.... THanks guys

Might want to post this one in the z'd frames thread....but yah i would think you definetly would have to move the engine forward to clear the lower position of the firewall
