Attn straight six owners
Hello all,
I need to see how the power steering brackets go on a straight six. I got a bracket set-up from a fellow board member and am having a little trouble seeing how they bolt on. Any help "pics" would be great. Thanks, Jason

What size engine is it
The reason you may be having problems is that you possibly have the wrong parts. That is that the brackets for a 250 are different than for a 292 because of the bypass hose on the thermostat housing on a 292, and as well, the 292 is a taller engine so the bracketry for the alternator is also different. FYI, 292 brackets are EXTREMELY hard to find altough I do have one set. 250 brackets can be as well but you'll find them from time to time in j.y.

Yes that helps. I have the wrong bracket. If the one in the pic is the right one for a 250. The brackets that bolt to the pump are right just the one that bolts to the motor is different. It wont clear the intake manifold.

You probably have a set of brackets off a 250 with an integrated head. I have an extra set of brackets but I don't know if I would want to separate just the one bracket. I do have one engine bracket of a 71 C-10. If this picture shows, The bracket on the left is off the 71 C-10. The middle brackets are off a 73 Van and the right brackets are off a 74 Nova. Notice the difference in pulley size on the Nova.

Are those crank pulleys at the bottom of the picture? All of the 6cyl PS I have had used a double grooved cast crank balancer that went into the crank...didn't bolt on. Some of the later motors (after 72) used wider spacing between the belt grooves and won't work with our early crank balancers/pulleys. I have used the whole package from a later motor, but you have to get EVERYTHING. Then the timing mark doesn't line up, so you have to remark the later balancer. One of my customers couldn't figure it out, so he drove the PS pump off the WP pulley instead of crank pulley. Worked great! Six cyl PS is a pain, but worth it! I converted my 250 PS to fit the 292 when I changed engines...that was a real exercise in cutting/grinding & welding.

Yes PICKMUP the bottom pulley is for the crank and it bolted to the existing double pulley that was cast on the balancer on the Van and Nova. The C-10 did not have it, that is just an extra one I had lying around. Both the Van and the Nova ran the PS off this pulley (the third one out). The middle one was used for the A/C compressor on the Nova and an Air Pump on the Van. I know the Nova had the later style PS pump (I can't remember about the Van). I have a PS pump off a 70 C-10 but have not tried to install it to see if there are any line-up problems (It bolts to the brackets fine). I am not in a big hurry to convert to PS but one of these weekends I will get around to it.

I have a compleate 250 with ps sitting in my driveway. It came out of my 72c10 whitch im in the prosess of installing a 350 tpi. if you need any parts and you think that they will fit let me know

Here are some pics of my truck's p/s stuff. Although I'm second owner, the original owner was quite the mechanic/tinkerer/hack... so I don't know if this is correct setup or not.
