Lifting engine???
ok well my engine little wood stands giving ou tand i got one of those steel ones. Some how the lift hooks on the engine disappeared into the abyss. any one knoe where i can get a set? i have the one you attach to the intake but i stripped a little bit off one of the holes just trying to tighten, no big damage thank god. any help would be great. thanks

I have seen them that attach to the intake, in place of the carburetor, with a loop on top of the plate. Others have simply used a couple of bolts and flat washers with a length of chain. Then, I remember a friend of mine who once carried a bare block some distance. I did, too, but I didn't have to go very far. I don't recommend it. It is hard on your back AND it is hard to figure out where to set it down without mashing your fingers, or more.

The plate that bolts down in place of the carb works well. I've made several to fit different applications.

You can use bots on the back side of one head and the front side of the other, diagonally across the engine. The intake bolts can be used to, but I was always more comfortable with the bolts doing into the front and back of the heads, since it was pulling on the bolt sideways instead of straight up on the threads.

I used the factory loops on my 327 a month ago when pulling it. The rear loop got all bent to heck even when all I was lifting was the engine and bellhousing. I'm going to use one that bolts where the carb goes when it goes back in.

i got a aluminum intake manifold, and heads. i dont trust using the intake one. anyone got the hooks that attach to the front of the manifold and bolt to the rear of it? hmm attaching it to the rear of one head and then one to the front it's an idea, how long of a bolt do you use?

Even with the alluminum intake, the lift plates have been tested and are fine. I used to know the weight one of those could hold, but it is well past iron big block wright.
I have always done the head to head with a chain, but on the real wide Caddy I been picking it up using intake bolts. Stripped small block is nothing to pick up and slap on the stand. I carried one olmost 100 feet a few times. |

Andy is that for one of them junkyard freebies, whatever you can carry you can keep? Man that's some crazy sh!^ people do that out at the junkyard by my house. Maybe I'll start training and get me a new block

LOL, no, actually that was from keeping my stuff in the storage shed behinde the trailer and that was the only way to get it back there, and then to retreave it later.
