Gasket???

Hay, good morning! Does anyone know the part # for a Felpro gasket. I am looking for the blue one piece, dry seal, oil pan gasket. It comes with bolts. The one I want is for an 85 350. There are 3 for the small block that I know of. The difference is the dipstick hole.

Gasket 1 has dipstick on passenger side. Part # O?????T

Gasket 2 has dipstick on driver side. Part # O34509T (I think that is what I saw last night, we were closing up)

Gasket 3 has dipstick holes on both sides. (universal) Part # O34510T (if i remember corectly) this i have

I need the part # for gasket 1.

I know someone out there knows this. I have seen all three in my hand. I work for a parts store. (Part Time 2nd Job)Can't remember

73 74 75 or something like that the dipstick changed sides. That's how you can tell if a motor is realy an old one from these trucks or an old car. I forget what year it was changed. Before 75 or so it's on the pass side after 75 or so it's on the driver side

Re: Gasket???

The one I just bought from NAPA for my truck was an OS34500R, and my dipstick is on the right side of the motor ('86 305). Make sure the one that you get is blue. Autozone sold me a gasket that they claimed was Felpro, but it was orange. It even had the same part number as the Felpro, but it was a piece of crap knock-off that leaked like crazy; sucks doing it twice.

Re: Gasket???

Maybe another consideration is the timing chain cover, I had to get a thick lip for my alum. cover on my one pc. But maybe you are running a stock one

This is atempt # 6 for me. It will not stop leaking. I just got a brand new oil pan. I hope that is what it was. Now i just need the gasket. I used the universal one last time. One with both dip holes.

I also put this up in the 73+ side and was given the same gasket. OS34500R I will look at this tonight at work.

Re: Gasket???

I believe its 80 and newer is passenger side dipstick 79 and older driver side. 80-85 is two piece rear main. 86 and up are one piece rear main seal. Then there is also the thin and thick front seal but I'm not sure about that. You will need to have the oil pan and timing chain cover matched up. You can measure the distance of the lip on the oil in the center. Someone else might be able to help better on that part.

Did you silicone where the timing cover and block meet. Or the rear the rear main cap and block? Just like the four corners on the block before you install the intake gaskets.

Re: Gasket???

Might be the pan. I bought a brand new steel pan from Summit last year and try as we might, we couldn't get that thing to stop leaking. Tried an old pan that was laying around my friend's shop out of desperation and no more problems.

Yeah that is what i am thinking. I have taken this motor out 5 or 6 times and used the same pan every time. This pan that is on it right now was floating around the bed of my truck for a year or so along with all the other junk i had back there. It was my DD so it is probably bent a little were you can't tell. It leaks out of the front. But the balancer doesn't have oil on it so it has to be the pan. I have done everything else to fix it with no luck. I would say it has been leaking for 5 or 6 years OMG! One quart every other day when it was the DD

Re: Gasket???

Could also be the rear main seal. When they leak it can look like it's coming from the pan.

IT is definitely coming from the front. It gets blown all down the pass. side of motor. Have no wheel wells in so it gets all over the right front disc. After driving hard it smokes and people tell me my truck is on fire. Nope it's not.... But close

Re: Gasket???

There are 2 different size gaskets for different oil pans, one has a thicker front seal and another uses a thin front seal. The difference is in the distance from the rail of the oil pan and the lowest part of the curve from the front seal.

If you bought a different oil pan, it may be the old style which requires a thin seal. Best way is to measure.

Here is a link, it is hard to read but maybe you can zoom in.

Re: Gasket???

LOW DOUGH, you might check to be sure you are not missing the short 3/8" bolt that goes in one of the holes on the front passenger side of the block. One of these holes(I think the top one) is drilled into the crankcase directly in line with the fuel pump push rod. Some people pull that bolt out and stick a longer one in there to hold the push rod up while changing the fuel pump. I've run across a couple leaking there before. It would only leak when you drove it, not just sitting there. Just a thought.

HMMMMMMMMMMM..... ya no what? I don't have a bolt in there. I have an electric pump too. Hmm i am going to put a bolt in there and see what happens. I was woundering about that. I thought it was posible that that hole went all the way threw
