Questions, need some help

Have a few of questions if anyone could help, lets start with the easy one. Just replaced my hood hinges, now should the hood stay in the up position without any prop rod? Second question, I was offered a TH400 tranny which was recently rebuilt and the guy is letting it go for 150, does this sound like a good price? Third question, I have a 327 with a manual 3 speed w/shifter on the floor in a 64 GMC SWBFS What is needed to install an automatic tranny? Is it best to go with an automatic shifter in the floor since there is already a hole there, and if so, what is needed? Any help is better than no help at all, thanks in advance.

Spell check title, lol.

Yes, the hood should stay up without a prop rod.

150 is great if was rebuilt recently. I recently just had a th400 rebuilt and it cost a little over 600.

It should bolt right up to your 327. I will be installing mine on tuesday so we'll see how that goes.

For the floor shifter, you should go with one on the floor. check out summit racing, they have a bunch of different shifter for the th400

Re: Questions, need some help

if its not an original auto youll need to get a auto cross member or fab one or jury rig like one of my trucks the tranny is held in place with a stop sign post and in another one of my trucks i have a b&m floor shifter with thandel and reverse lock out works real nice when your backing up dont even have to touch the brakes slap the shifter back2 notches and go

Re: Questions, need some help

I think you should not bother with a TH400 if you are not towing alot or carring heavy loads. It is a beefy tranny and takes a bit of Horsepower to turn it. But for $150 it can't be that bad.

Re: Questions, need some help
