tranny question i think a lot of us have pondered it
i have a chance of scoring a t5 tranny outta an s10 it was bolted up to a 4.3 v6 same bolt pattern as the v8s i know it will bolt up but what i wanna know has any one put one in thier 60-66 truck it is a five speed

It can be done but I hear they don't hold up to the V8 power very well... Well acually I didn't hear this but I did read it on the forums..

Check the inliners.org website. They have quite a bit of discussion on using this transmission. There are two types of T-5's. World Class and Non World class. The World Class were the stronger of the two and were used in V8 Camaro's and Firebirds. However, these transmissions had the shifter at the back of the tailshaft which is too far back for a truck with a bench seat. The S-10 transmission has the shifter at the front of the tailshaft which will work. The slickest set up is to get one of each and the bolt the S-10 tailshaft to the World Class transmission and you have the best of both. Also, the earlier models (I think pre 1978) had a manual speedo drive. The later models used an electronic drive. There is a converter for the electronic drive, but it is fairly expensive ($300).

Member "Brad" has a T5 behind a 6-banger in his 67. I'm sure he'd be willing to share some knowledge on the subject.
