Re: 1986 c30 dually spindles...help
Tom: I don't think spindle from C20 will work. Ball joint issues. Stock spindles from any other 30 series truck will be the same as far as riding height is concerned. If you only want to lift her up a couple of inches get heavier springs. Tell the parts guy what you want and he should be able to help you. Don't be fooled by what appears to be a spring of the same height. look at the wire diameter of the spring, it will be larger than what you have now. This increase in wire diameter will prevent the truck from droping as far as before BUT, it will also stiffen the ride. You WILL know your driving a truck, LOL, it's going to get STIFF!! Hope this helps, Jim

Re: 1986 c30 dually spindles...help
you can chainge the front hub and diskbrakesetup from the C30 for the single wheel C30 van setup the dualy type hub is a diskbrake hub combo , the van type has a seperate disk on the hub itself you might have to chainge the bearings too .
it brings the normal wheels back under the fenders , the eaziest way would be to chainge the rearaxle as one unit cause it has different brakes and isnt as wide as a single wheel unit and these van units might be geared better as whell

Re: 1986 c30 dually spindles...help
There are no lift spindles available for 73-87s currently, and if you have a diesel or a Big Block there arent any heavy springs available. If you have a small block though then the BB or diesel coils should provide some lift. As far as 88-98 spindles they can be made to fit. There is an article on swapping stock 88-98 spindles to a 67-72 truck, the front suspensions on the 73-87s are fairly identical to 67-72s. I have never swapped the 88-98 spindles but certainly thought about it when I had my 82 chevy.
As far as getting rid of the dually you could run Hummer bead lock wheels. They will bring the tires in due to the stock offset of the wheels.

Re: 1986 c30 dually spindles...help
I tried to search for it but the search button isnt currently working for me. If you can get it to work you might do a search for 88-98 spindle in the 67-72 truck section.

Re: 1986 c30 dually spindles...help
Tom, I have been told by several people that 73-87 2WD C30 spindles are the same, whether single wheel or dual wheel. Supposedly the rotors can be swapped out using the same spindle and brake caliper. While I cannot confirm this yet, I hope to be finding out for sure soon. I have an 82 dually parts truck, and I would like to use the dually bed, rear end and rotors(or whatever it takes) to convert my 90 R3500 single wheel Crew Cab(73-87 body style) to a dually. Please let us know if you find out before I do. Thanks.
