Gas Tank Strap Padding

Can anyone recommend a material for fuel tank strap padding? I am ready to get this leaky tank off of my truck. I do not know if maybe Ace Hardware has something or Lowes...

I bought a new one from Rock Auto, very nice quality. I did not get to do the Blazer tank yet, I just bought this one for now and will be doing the blazer tank when I do the frame off.

Re: Gas Tank Strap Padding

I have used felt roofing paper. I have also heard of guys using a section of inner tube.

I just use the felt roofing AKA tar paper. that is what the factory had in there so it should be good enough.

I have only seen it in the large rolls. Maybe you can visit a construction sight.

You could also use a bicycle tire innertube.

Re: Gas Tank Strap Padding

I used some foam from my 2002 trans am factory tank. It worked out pretty good.
