kick panel speakers

hey guys,
i want to get some sound up front.
currently i only have rear speakers.
have ruled out cutting into the doors.
so i'm thinking kick panels are a good location.

i don't want to drill or cut directly into them.
anyone know of some pre-fabbed kick panel with integrated speaker that i can buy aftermarket?

i've seen a few guys make them custom but i'd like to try and find something already made.

all advice and suggestions welcomed...

Re: kick panel speakers

Just about every vendor carries the pre-fab kick panels. You can get them with or without speakers. A few guys have made kick panels (do a search) and I believe a few have used the universal Q-Logic enclosures.

Re: kick panel speakers

I just purchased these to see if they will work on the truck.
I'll let you know how they fit.

Re: kick panel speakers

I'm considering playing around with fiberglass and building some custom door panels that will hold speakers. I figure getting a 4x6 or a 5.25 inch shouldn't be that hard. Sorry, I don't have any no pics of a setup like this, I'm sure someone has done it already though.

Re: kick panel speakers

As the other post said, most parts magazines have these kick panels. I looked at LMC (I knew I had seen them there). I got mine from the same website that I bought my stereo (I don't remember who that was now). They look exactly the same, so I am sure they are the same manufacturer.

The price on LMC is $100. The link is: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/0102.asp

The picture below shows them installed. The instructions that came with them said the are held in with just the weatherstrip - That didn't work. I used some button like sheet metal screws. Also, there are trim line printed on the back of the panels - for the vent clearance. Overall I am happy with the ones I got.

Re: kick panel speakers

Yeah, those are the same ones that Tim Christian sells for like $75 or $80 dollars. I was always nervous about using them because of the emergency brake.

Re: kick panel speakers

I put on a set from LMC and added my own speakers. They needed a little trimming around the vent on the drivers side. The only problem I have is the dimmer button. Maybe my foot is too fat? I need about a one inch extention for it to work properly.

the brake doesn't clear!
anyone else had this problem?

Re: kick panel speakers

I think I remember people saying they are just bending the e-brake pedal out a little.

Re: kick panel speakers

As 5150 said, guys are bending the e-brake a little. I read about guys unscrewing the dimmer and moving it about an inch over.

ok, i'll give it a try.
it does seem like it's just about an inch that's needed for clearance.
