my 85 gmc · 01-07-2003, 05:30 PM

Should I bypass my ESC Ditributer, replace with standard HEI or leave existing ESC dist in place?
Also does anyone have any opinion on Ram Air Boxes do they work?
My truck is an 85 GMC Sierra Classic(all original incluing paint) 305ci engine, truck has less than 50,000 original miles.
Current modifications are:
Daul exhaust with free flow mufflers.

Future plans are:
Ram Air Box
Comp Cams Extreme Energy(XE-250H-10) cam
Edelbrock performer intake
Maybe new distributer

I like the ram air box.

I have never had ESC, but if I did I'm sure I remove it ASAP.

He just had no time for my questions: price, availability, and application. All 3 are very important to me. I work in a parts supply store, so I ask those questions of all suppliers at the time of order.

Oh well, he had a bad day I guess.

Swervin: Is that unit made of Fibreglass or injection molded plastic? I have been thinking of making one myself. (I used to make Carbon Fibre hoods.) how tough can it be really?

I know you asked Swervin, but I'll answer it anyway.

It is fiberglass.
It is a very basic design.

You can make the box yourself or get just the fiberglass box from them for $99.

I ordered from Pierre and he wasn't rude at all. Maybe try a little southern drawl (sp?) like me and they'll be nice.
Price and application stuff are listed on the website. Maybe they thought you were just wasting their time with questions that are answered already if you look...just a thought.

How much of that is just hose covering, and how much is actually braided hose?

Being as this is an old pic of my engine, I'll answer your question.

I have Aeroquip braided hose for the fuel line, and tranny cooler lines, with AN fittings all the way. For the radiator hoses, heater hoses, and A.I.R. hoses, I used Aeroquips stainless steel overbraid with their fake AN hose ends. For all the vacuum lines, I used the Spectre Magna Flex stuff, which BTW, I can't find anymore.

I've seen Spectre stuff at Auto Zone Mike. It's both the cover style and the rubber hose with the braid already on it with the clamp style.

Mike I found it at the Hub store in the area. Looks like in most of the Auto Zones I've seen near here they're starting to expand their inventory. Also see if they can get it for you. I know O'Rilleys carried alot of their spped shop stuff at their hub store as well. Most can get it to you the same day if in stock.
