Hydraboost brakes
Just wondered if someone could tell me me advantages of hydraboost (sp?) brakes. I've got the whole system on a parts truck and wondered if it would be worth the time to convert my '77.
Thanks, Joe

Thanks for the response, ZOOMY. Would you know the reason they're always on 1 ton trucks? Higher pressure or something? Would a transplanted 1 ton front axle with the 1 ton's brakes need the hydraboost?

I believe there usually on 1 tons cause hydro boost brakes stop better. 1 tons are usually towing & are very heavy. Hydro's will help said vehicle stop faster. Im building a 71 3/4 ton & want to do a hydro brake system. I havent started to search for parts yet. Let me know if you want to sell your hydro stuff if you wont be needing it. Its a bit of a pain to set up the hydro system, & i wouldnt be considering it but i tow to much. My 2004 3/4 ton suburban has it & it stops so much better while towing. Let me know. Thanks Todd PS: Im in Illinois too. So hey ho neighbor.

hydroboost
Hi, I have a complete hydroboost setup on my plow/parts truck. I was planning on converting my stepside when I add the other hardware. I am curious too as to why the hydroboost is better, I just figured it would make sense to transplant everything so it would all match. Thanks!

Hydraboost stops better than any vaccum booster I've seen. My 80 C-30 weighs 7000lbs.empty but stops like a pickup. Before I installed a bed it would lock the rear tires just tapping the brakes! I've had my truck 15yrs. and had no problems, just changed PS fluid & new belts every so often.

I was wondering, since I have the brake set up pictured on a parts truck to, is there a special power steering pump that should go with it, or will the standard single outlet pump work. I was thinking on swapping this on my 1/2 4x4 just for better braking.

The pump on my 80 c30 looks a little bigger than on my 79 k10 maybe just extra fluid ? Both are 350ci

Re: Hydraboost brakes
If you have hydroboost and havent changed your power steering fluid in a while, DO IT, I used some Valvoline Synthetic PS fluid in mine, with a 6' length of 3/8" hose over the return line into a washer fluid container, ran about 2 quarts thru and it stops like a new truck, altho I am talking about my '01 with 145xxx miles... It really makes a difference tho.. Oh, and if you have hydroboost, you could run a REALLY BIG CAM
