Re: Is this a rare truck??? (Ebay)

No?
It's a re-clipped '69 with A/C and less-than-superb bodywork. Doesn't seem all that rare to me.

Re: Is this a rare truck??? (Ebay)

Why in the h--l would they put 88-98 style molding on that truck. That kills it for me. The pass. side bed looks to have a wave or two in it also.

Greasemonkey, I don't disagree with you about the rarity of the truck. all I could tell by those pictures that was wrong with the body work was the paint by the windshield pic and the clip alignment. I'll be the first to admit I don't have the best eye, but I'm curious what else did you see?

by the look of the body work on the upper body line right before the rear sidemarker it looks like it was cut down from a long bed

Re: Is this a rare truck??? (Ebay)

If it was a rare truck - they likely would have left it alone and not put the '68 clip on

Looks like a pretty nice ride though-- not sure about a 12,500 BIN -- maybe 8, but what do i know.

The seller is serious though , he says "Serious bidders only ! This not a game!"

"This not a game" --- i love it, another in the long line of ebay ad screw ups

If CSTM is right about it being a cut down long bed - that might change a lot on the price

Re: Is this a rare truck??? (Ebay)

looks like it took a hard hit on the left front at one time stance looks off at first i thought it was bad camber on the left but it looks like it is over to the left a bit. i dont mind the newer moldings so much because if i did then i would be a hypocritic cause it has newer style ralleys as well. nice truck i have seen worse go for more.

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice truck and someone will be very happy with it. I just saw the big waves in the bedsides, painted over rust on the doorbottoms, etc.; and a really nice shiny paintjob that would have looked great if someone had spent a few more hours blocking it out and doing a bit more prep work. It does have A/C and an uncut dash, so I am sure that makes it worth a lot to someone. The inside of the bed looks really nice too.
All in all, a decent truck but not necessarily rare.

Re: Is this a rare truck??? (Ebay)

Whatever has been said or noticed...the answer to the question asked is,"NO!It`s not a rare truck." When we say "rare" we mean "factory-built".When we build our own trucks how we want, unlike anyone else`s,then it`s known as "one off".But,if that`s one-off then it`s one of a zillion one-offs.

Re: Is this a rare truck??? (Ebay)

yes, it is a rare truck. in early 69 GM decided to offer 8 trucks with a 68 front clip, carpeted plywood bed floor insert, and R134A refrigerant. LOL

Re: Is this a rare truck??? (Ebay)

Nice to look at, from a distance. Since it is being offered for sale in Florida, I'm okay with that distance. No doubt someone is proud of their work, but we are, I believe, a discerning bunch who will have no qualms about dissing the work that someone does if it doesn't measure up to our high standards. Plywood insert in the bed? Why? 88-98 side mouldings? I don't even want them on my C/K. So the dash hasn't been cut...big whoop. Mine hasn't either. Does that make mine rare?

There were 55K+ SWB trucks built in '69. I hazard to guess that there are way less than that now, but not enough less to call one "rare".

Re: Is this a rare truck??? (Ebay)

How many thousand trucks with uncut dashes have been junked just because everything else was shot?

Re: Is this a rare truck??? (Ebay)

Titled as a 69,it has a 68 clip, and 72 door panels..Not to mention the rest of it.I think it would look a little better with the newer molding removed,it really doesnt belong. The bed looks like it has been shortened, and not done right..It's a (Think like Johnny Cash) 67,68,69,70,71,72...... chevrolet C10
