Wiper upgrade

The wiper thread inspired me to ask another ?

Has anyone upgraded their wiper system to modern standards? What did you use? How much did you change? Arms? Whole deal? Just the switch?

Re: Wiper upgrade

There's a thread in FAQ on intermittent wiper switches, but that's about it.

Re: Wiper upgrade

I am not happy with the washer set-up on mine. I have been thinking of swapping to some squirters from a late 80s F150 along with a bottle-pump unit from a Workhorse stepvan. they hold close to a gallon & the pump is strong enough.

Re: Wiper upgrade

I make the switches to add the intermittant feature (which looks completely stock, by the way). As for the washer feature, I am about to change out my bottle to one that has the pump built onto the bottom (gotta visit the junkyard and see what will fit best), or I will be adding an electric "universal" pump below my bottle and have it push the water to the squirters. The manual pump that is built into the motor really begs to be upgraded, and even rebuilding them doesn't improve the squirt by a whole bunch...so why not go electric!?!?!?! I will let everyone know what bottle/pump I go with and how it works out.

Re: Wiper upgrade

I asked this one recently. Got a lot of good answers. Someone said they installed the modern truck wipers onto their ride - the ones with the water jet embedded in the arm...very cool!

putter, i'd be interested in your "kit" that is described in the faq posts, if ever you come up with one. i'm new to the forum, came looking for this specific solution, and found that this forum rocks!

Re: Wiper upgrade

Kits are pending. Waiting on the FedEx guy to drop off a load of switches to use in the kits.
They have been designed and built, just not in a large number yet.
Believe me, this board will be the first to know when they "hit the street".

This is the thread that was mentioned. I just purchased one of these units and it will be installed soon. I am also interested in washer improvements anyone has.

Re: Wiper upgrade

Here is what I did so far...I am off to the junkyard soon to get a bottle/pump combo. The universal pumps really don't push the water well...which means they suck (no pun intended.
