Lokar auto shifter

I'm seriously considering using a Lokar Automatic shifter (as pictured below), but am not sure of the shifter stick length.

Is anybody using one of these, and what length did you get.

Re: Lokar auto shifter

That thing would be cool to make an automatic to a floor automatic?
Has anyone ever tried one like that before?

Re: Lokar auto shifter

A buddy uses one in his '57 truck. Had a B&M which he gave to me. He likes the Lokar better, its a good investment.

Re: Lokar auto shifter

I used a 16" "floor mount" shifter (your picture shows the tranny mount one.) I love it. Shifts perfectly.

Re: Lokar auto shifter

I had the 23" shifter in mine(pictured), but I'm gonna switch to a 16" length after I get it back together. The 23" shifter looked OK but a little awkward at the same time.

Re: Lokar auto shifter

What about using a floor shifter with a cable instead of linkage?? I want to put one in using a center console, like the (I gonna say it) '05 F150.

I have used a ton of those Lokar shifters, The name of it is the Transmission mount shifter. They also offer one that mounts to the floorboard itself. It is great.

That's exacly what i wanted to hear...

I was thinking the 23" would bee too long for me, looks like it would get in the way of the dash (operating heater controls, radio etc.).
How far does it lay back when in low gear?

I'll be using a center console from a early 90's truck, and am worried about the shifter hitting it...

anybody using a trans mounted shifter shorter than 16"?

Re: Lokar auto shifter

I got a 10 inch I used. It fit o.k It looked very low profile, but if I am not mistaken you can simply exchange the handle. If you are using the center console, you could slide the shifter in like a car.

I meant to reply to you in my last post.
*********, but I am installing a 700r4 as well, so the tail mount wouldn't work for me.

Do you have a picture, i'm curious to see how high the 10" sits.
I'm currently have a B&M megashifter, and it is adjusted at about the same height as my knee.

Re: Lokar auto shifter

I don't have a pic of it in the truck. Sorry. The top of the knob came right to the edge of the seat. It worked perfect. It was almost like a car shifter. I will take picture of the shifter though

I bought the trans mounted 16" for my 700r4 to replace my b&m megashifter..money well spent, by the way you can get the the setup for any application on ebay for $160-$180.

Re: Lokar auto shifter

I bought the 23" tranny mount shifter with the indicator boot.I roughed it in when the cab was bare and it looks like it'll be pretty close to the seat in low and close to the dash in park as well(no seat in when I installed it). There is quite a bit of adjustment though so I'm not worried. The Knob will be close to level with the top of the dash for height and it does have a reverse lockout(need to push the button to shift to reverse). This is a quality unit in every way that I can see and I have no regrets (other than not getting the 32").I also ordered the polished piston knob, but the regular mushroom knob looks great so I may just go with it.
*EDIT*forgot to mention that that's it in my avatar <<
