Bumper Question
I have a 71 Blazer, I'm in the planning stages of building a front grill guard for it. I noticed on the front bumper where it attaches to the frame rail the bumper looks to be cut about as wide as the frame and about an inch up so it will line up with the bottom bolt holes. My question is why?. you would think that the bumper should bolt right up to it.My plan is to attach the Grill Guard to the bumper at the frame rails. I have looked long and hard for a place that builds grill guards for our Blazers but way to expensive so I thought I would jump into it and see what I can do. I have no idea if it a stock bumper. I will post pictures tomorrow.

Re: Bumper Question
There are several discussions on ck5.com about custom grill guards. I think most of them used custom bumpers too.
If you do a search here ya might find some. Any pics of the area you're talking about might help too.

Re: Bumper Question
I just looked at the pictures in your other post. I'd guess that the mods you're talking about are probably to raise the bumper after a body lift was added.

Re: Bumper Question
Thats what I was thinking. My plan it to buy paintable bumpers so I can fab brackets and attach my guard then spray it black. Thanks I learn alot on this site. I have installed new door panels in "Bruzer" and have a crap load of parts on the way.

Re: Bumper Question
I'm gonna agree on the body lift. If that is indeed the case, your rear bumper likely has the same "issue". Otherwise you'll see a big gap between it and the tailgate.

Re: Bumper Question
Thanks. Looks like your truck is a great start. It'll be cool to get all the SA rigs together for some BBQ this spring.
