I just picked up a 67 SWB from Teeitup yesterday(will post pics and story later it about killed me getting it home) but I noticed the front bench back folds down is this common? I know my 71 won't fold believe me I tried in the past and again last night.

It will fold if you take four flat head machine screws out!

It seems there is no rhyme or reason to those that fold and those that don't. My 70's did not fold, but the one in my 69 did. Of course the 69 was a hodge-podge of so many years, there is no telling if that was the original seat or not.

If all the bolts are there then it was designed to fold, earlier trucks like the 64 I used to own folded -but my 70 does not. I'm not sure but I think they changed it as a safety issue - in a wreck the folding seat is mass that will keep moving against you hence the new trucks have either a mechanical latch or inertia latch to keep this from happening

My 67 has it also. You remove 2 wing nuts (1 on each side) and you can fold it down. The 67s are the only ones I have seen and not all of them have had it.

I had a '68 that had a bench that folded forward. It didn't have any wing nuts though. It was a CST. I have no idea if it was an original seat though. It was kinda nice to be able to flip it forward.

This is making me wonder if mine is original? The one in my 70 K20 folds forward and has adjustment bolts that allow the seat to be tweaked forward or backwards! Now you all have me wondering if this is a stock feature or a modification/??

Mine also had the adjusting bolts to change the rear angle.

My 70' has a folding bench I believe to be from a 67'. The backrest seems thinner than 68-72's. Where are the adjustment bolts to change the angle???. I'll have to look at mine.

My 67 has four screws holding it solid. No seat belts. My 68 folded but had seat belts. Maybe it was a saftey issue. I prefer the folding style even is just to store stuff in the small space beside tank.

With all that room behind the seat for the gas tank and such, I hope I don't need my seatback to fold forward. Last thing I want is to have my seatback become a missle in an accident. Been there, done that.....but getting rear-ended at that time just made my seat look like a recliner, or a Nash. Couldn't drive it any more, anyway. It was my first car....'54 Ford Customline 2-dr, with 64K miles on it. Sorry to hijack the post. Bent seatbacks bring back fond memories.

both of my 68s had folding bench seats. i kow that the one in my shortbed was original beacuse it is a 50th and the seat is ivory.

The seat in my '68 folds forward, and I believe it to be the original seat. It also has the nuts that allow the seat-backs angle to be adjusted.
