Intermittent Wipers - need some info
I'm in the middle of converting my 77 to intermittent wipers. I swapped over to the 78-83 pump and wiring and tested it out with a 78-83 non intermittent switch and it all works. All I have left to do is cut and drill the dash opening for the new style switch.
I ordered a new 78-83 intermittent switch from LMC. I've been reading around here and it just dawned on my that there is seperate module that plugs into the switch. Somehow I get the feeling that I'll be getting a switch in the mail but no module. I found AC Delco part #D6355A and I'm hoping these are still being made. Anyone know ? I've taken lots of pics and documented it all as I've seen in past threads there was a lot of people who wanted intermittent wipers on their 73-77. I'll try my best to get together a definitive how-to on this topic. The 78-83 pump, wiring, and non intermittent switch is installed in my 77 and working. Just gotta get that intermittent switch and module. EDIT: Just found the module for $95 on rockauto.com. Might just have to stick with the non intermittent switch until I can afford that stinkin module. I'll still put the how-to together, since converting to the 78-83 wiring and pump is the meat of the conversion. Last edited by Pyrotechnic; 01-07-2008 at 11:51 AM. |

Re: Intermittent Wipers - need some info
my module recently took a turn for the worst. It gave me all kinds of problems like the wiperes would stay on all the time or not work at all.
turns out, you can unplug the connectors at each end of the module and just plug them together without the module in place. So, I now have the same problem with no intermittant wipers. But I can use them on hi and low.

Make sure you check the parts yards, I found a switch and module for my '80 for $5. If I see another one i will let you two know. If you run across the plastic knob I need one.

Re: Intermittent Wipers - need some info
Knobs and switches are available from LMC. It's module that sucks. I'm gonna give the delco part number to my friend at A Line and see if I can score that module cheaper than $100. I've got a few days christmas break left then it's back to school so I won't have much time for junkyard hunting.
I got the opening in the dash enlarged and the 78-83 non intermittent switch mounted. Just trimmed it out with the dremel and I can still install the old switch and setup if I need to. New thread and pics to come. |
