How do 55-59 cabs compare?

I noticed a huge long frame ton or bigger 55-59 (seen from rear and afar). How does the cab compare to any of its smaller 3100 cabs. Are they the same or is it just an optical illusion? I want one bad as I am missing my 56. Can anyone help me on the GMC to Chevy side and swapping parts from these years and sizes from your experience also?

Ok. Now my question is was that a dumb question because it is such a simple answer or is it a Secret? Just weighing my options for a truck project.

I used a cab from a similiar year large fire truck on my 59 GMC and it worked out ok.

Not sure of the details but I will tell you what I know, then let an expert correct me.

Up to about 2 tons the cabs are very similiar. The only difference I noticed was an extra brace along the inside kick panels on the bigger truck. Both the fire truck I got my cab from and the old fuel truck we have both have this brace. I had the brace removed for my 1/2 ton.

There are some differences between 55 -59, or at least the wiper motor is different. Not sure and my memory is failing me right now due to 3/4 of a bottle of white wine, but I remember that the wiper motors will not interchange.

GMC and Chevrolet have different dashes, including different instrument clusters and different heater panels. I think you would be best to find find the same as what you have.

Old grain trucks can be great finds as they were rarely driven in the winter. Great cabs and doors.

That's my 67 I just got on the road. It is very cold to drive as the holes in the floor are larger.

All GM cabs from 47-59 are the exact same regardless of truck size except the COE and the "cannonball" big-rig style trucks.
Personal expierience as well as having every single truck size in posession except big-rig style and canopy express.

Thanks Mark, I may have to buy the whole darn thing. On the other-hand, he may want the frame for scrap metal. It is at least 20 feet long. No bed whatsoever. I can just see the cab, frame, and dual rear wheels parked for what looks like 20 years. It is a 55-59 for sure. I hate to deal with the title thing of long lost trucks but it might be worth the effort. The farm truck cabs may not have been in use as much as the small regular cabs. I am just speculating. They are what they are. Trucks. Most likely got used or abused any way you look at it. Thanks again. Got any COE pics? Those are cool in their own right.
