Re: 1977 Silverado SWB - 50k original

Re: 1977 Silverado SWB - 50k original
Alot of it depends on the location of the vehicle. Around here, that truck would NOT sell for 10 g's.
Take this one for example... http://phoenix.craigslist.org/car/458513482.html I just found this in a quick search for my area. The mileage is somewhat up there, but the paint and body are FLAWLESS from the pictures and he's only asking 4900. I also think the color on that one is beautiful. In my area the truck in the original post would bring maybe 6500, depending on whether or not it's really as clean as it says. |

Re: 1977 Silverado SWB - 50k original
boatpuller: If you are thinking about coming over here into Canada to buy a truck, you will probably reconsider when you see the prices. In my area (South Western Ontario), old Chevrolet and GMC trucks go for a premium. Even rusted out beaters that are only good for parts sell in the $1000-$1500 area. For example, there is a 1978 3/4 ton 2WD truck near me in need of body work, paint, and some TLC for $4500. The prices on this site make me drool, but due to time and logistical restraints, I have yet to bring one home . Guess I will have to get by with my Dad's 1985 GMC!

Re: 1977 Silverado SWB - 50k original
I do too. I don't think those exactly qualify as funky to me, as much as the kind of maybe burnt orange of the original truck. That being said, my 80K mile 73 454 truck didn't stay grass green inside and out very long. It's all personal preference.

Yeah, for some reason prices over here in Canada for old cars and trucks are absolutley through the roof. You have to be REAL patient and hunt around for a half decent deal.

Re: 1977 Silverado SWB - 50k original
I'm pretty sure that's "buckskin" per my 77 GMC color and trim book.
It looks more tan than orange. They also had "mandarin orange" in 77. The seat vinyl looks like pumpkin pie for this color but the seat velour is very orange.

Re: 1977 Silverado SWB - 50k original
The more the dollar tanks, the more the prices are going up. Or in other words, the buck is worthless! Better buy stuff while you can even get it is my motto.
The color of the first truck shown is likely "Russet Metallic" and either "Neutral" or "Buckskin." Those are the colors on my 77 (came with Neutral and I changed it to Buckskin on repaint), however, due to the trim accent being black, it looks like a 78. All 77's have the Ochre Yellow on the trim pieces. Thanks for the pics, I have been wanting to see how my truck would look with the Rallye Wheels and SS trim rings. I think the wheels look very good and may go that direction. I would try 17 inch wheels though. LBJ Last edited by LBJ; 01-08-2008 at 05:10 AM. |

Here is my 27000 original mile 78 chevy scottsdale that my grandfather bought new, and it is the same color.
