Boties pics aren't coming up for me here at work so I may be repeating what he posted.

I have a 71 with the 250 . It has the choke connected to the exhaust man not the intake. It mounts in the indention on your exhaust manifold. It may put it in the right spot for the slot and circle you mentioned above.

Luvlegs,

I just bought a 72 truck 250 off the parts board and it is all original and the same as yours, and the whole motor is orange, Now my 71 that is all original is like the picture by Botietruck....Hope this helps....George
