You are pretty lucky my friend. It could have come through the bell housing and the firewall. My uncle had a friend who back in the 60s had a cam go through his knee when he was drag racing a Corvette. He dropped the clutch at like 5 grand I guess. My dad saw the aftermath in the car. Shattered his knee completely.

Yeah, I know I'm lucky it didn't tear more up. It was only running 2K RPM when it snapped. That cam's been broke for a while, the shear was oil varnished pretty badly over about 95% of the break, glad I wasn't messing around when it happened...could've been real bad.
