Sand that baby down and paint it with flat black spray cans and they won't laugh at you anymore. Good score.

I'd leave it the way it is, and put a stout EFI motor in it. *cough* sleeper *cough* I love the patina of that truck!

Looks pretty good to me. Put it to work hauling stuff to the dump and you'll make back that $500 in a week. Then It's gravy.

If it runs and drives you stole it!

From what I can see the truck looks ok either as a beater or if you want to breath new life into it and restore it.

Re: Well here is my beater...

Sure looks like you got a good deal. No matter what you do with it you got your moneys worth.

I think beaters are cool, everyone should have one.

Have fun and enjoy it.

The hiccuping could be because it hasn't been run for a while and needs some fresh gasoline and a can of gasoline additive.

When I bought my beater a year and a half ago it ran the same, but the more I drove it the better it ran.

Re: Well here is my beater...

Have a great time with it. I thought I would just by an old beater and drive it. However, I get it back from paint in two weeks.

Re: Well here is my beater...

Do you have any more pictures? Appears to be a 3/4 sierra or sierra grande? 500 bucks was worth it. What motor and tranny? options? there is an option sheet on the inside of the glovebox door. nice find!!

Re: Well here is my beater...

Couldn't get a decent pic of the card in glove box. Only got my camera phone. It does say its a Sierra grande with 4:10 rear axle. It has a 78 350 in it.looked up the engine code. Card said it originally had a 400. Don't know what it has for tranny. It really ain't that rusted.Every truck before this I looked at was all rusted out beneath the doors.Bed in pretty good shape. When I first seen it at the lot I figured it would be a rust bucket! Can't wait for the warm weather to roll around so I can go junk yardin!

Nice 3/4 ton, especially for only $500.

Re: Well here is my beater...

Nice truck! My truck came out of Wyoming. It had a similar paint job when I got it. When I got it here, it literally started to rust right before my eyes. You see here in Minnesota we have this stuff in the air called water. You high desert guys don't know what it is like to have a piece of metal without paint rust over night.

I had to slap a quick paint job on it to keep it from rusting.

If the glove box said it had a 400 that would be a big block, 402 engine.

Re: Well here is my beater...

Nice GMC man! I once took my GMC back home to Wyoming and watched the rust stop dead in it's tracks! But when the vacation was over I had to come back to the east coast...

Nice Wyo truck (I grew up in Laramie). They're all over up there. I've got a buddy in Bar Nunn that has a few 67-72's and some parts. I'll PM you his # if you'd like.
