Need to get a "mini buffer" and an air compressor and "product" to refinish/polish my glass, trim, chrome etc.. Can anyone direct me to the best "set up" I dont need anything hi tech or industrial to do a fleet of trucks, lol. Just to do my Burb and my sons truck etc..ld prefer to go to Depot or Lowes, if it can be gotten there, but will order online if I have to.

Thanks for ANY direction...

GMC Junkie,
The best stuff I have ever used for anything so to speak is called Flitz. You can buff anything and make it shine with it. I ordered it off the internet on the As seen on TV website. It is not cheap, but a really good product. You can make paint, chrome, aluminum, gauge faces, headlights, you get it shine like new. I used it on my old aluminum rims and they made them look like chrome. My two cents.

here is a link to go to this is good stuff i was skeptical at first but it works just like the web site says www.metalwax.com look at the green cleaner and the yellow polish. there wax for paint is also great

I bought some glass polish kit from Eastwood.I still haven`t tryed it.But,that`s one place I found glass polish.I`m sure there a bazillion metal & paint polishes out there to rack your brain.Hey...ask at a glass shop!

Thanks for the replies and link guys. I was looking at a set up in the Eastwood catalog too. Just not sure what to go with. Think Monday I will call a glass shop, thanks again!!

I pulled the grille from my truck, intending to replace it. My parts guy looked at it and said it just needed to be cleaned and polished. So I took it to the guy he suggested who does it and he said, "sure, it'll run about $450-500, or the cost of a new grille. So, I took it to a guy who does powder coating, and he said "just clean it and polish it", then told me that Sherwin-Williams automotive paint stores have a polishing kit for about $100 ($98). I bought it. It is the very same kit that Eastwood sells for $120.

The professional restorer said it would have to be sanded to remove the small pits, then polished. Eastwood sells a kit to remove the anodizing for $20. Gotta get that, I think, but maybe not. I'll just have to sand on it and see what gives. I have read of people using oven cleaner to remove the anodizing, so maybe that's what it needs.

But even buying the stuff from Eastwood, plus the polishing kit, plus the other materials is a lot cheaper than a new grille or paying a professional to do it for me.

i have used the oven cleaner to remove the anodizing, cleaned it up real good with soap and warm water then polished with WENOL after it was nice and shiney i coated it with some ZOOPS and it helped preserve the shine.

If you have the time, you can't beat the dremel tool for detailed polishing.. Very relaxing with a cold one..

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
