new wiring harness

hey guys out there i just got a new 21 circuit wiring harness from ez wiring im so excited to get my truck rewired and the kit looks awesome but i wanted to know if anyone has done a complete rewiring on their 67-72 chevy truck with the ez wiring kit and if they have any advice or anything they come across that they might want to pass along as help before i undertake this task.

i want to get this in asap but it also makes me wanna wait and completly redo my engine compartment so i dont have to do it later any thoughts to this as well? i have a 69 if that helps anyone by the way

Re: new wiring harness

well i don't think the kit that i put in my 60 was an ez kit, but i would find where you wanna mount your fuse block, separate the wires according to where they go, engine, cab, rear. i would also try to reuse your oem firewall connectors.

Re: new wiring harness

I ran EZWire in my 67. First time I ever did a total rewire. The instruction manual has some very good tips, so you should not have any big problems...

Re: new wiring harness

I have not used an easy wire kit but plan to as I have heard positive comments from them. I have rewired my blazer with a painless kit and it went ok for mesomeone with no wireing experiance and I have tried a highway wireing kit and threw the damn thing away cause it sucked so bad..

Re: new wiring harness

update on the wiring harness man it was a breeze as long as you pay attention to the details and are patient and have some common sense about wiring (of course i love electrical) then youll be good and that kit is amazing its its own right they are all labeled every 5 inches just like it boasts. they claim on the website it will take 20 hours for an amateur first timer and they were pretty right. so i totally recommend the kit. and i could have easily used a 12 circuit cause of so many non upgrades. but the circuits are there for me in the future

Re: new wiring harness

i went to ezwiring.com i got the 21 circuit cause it has everything youll need and plenty of room to upgrade if you want to upgrade to like auto windows and an expanded stereo. plus it wasnt much more than the 12 circuit but the 12 circuit one i was told should cover everything our truck needs. but i figure better safe than sorry plus its nearly half the cost of the expensive painless. im not paying 350 for somehtign i can get thats just as good if not better just my opinion.

youre not incredibly far from me we could even work out somehting and id definatly help you rewire reguardless of the harness you choose.

the other bonus of the ezworingis its labeled and theyll give you a universal chart that matches gm specs thats color coded. let me know if you have any more questions. some people swear by that painless kit but its expensive in my opinion.

Re: new wiring harness

I purchased an EZ Wiring kit as well just have not installed it yet. Looks to be a pretty sweet kit. There is a couple of other members that have installed this kit with relative ease as well.

Re: new wiring harness

I too have one sitting in my new parts pile. I'll hopefully be getting to installing it in the next few weeks. Looks like it won't be all that bad.

Re: new wiring harness

i used a painless wiring kit in one of my mustangs and comparing it to the ezwiring one i put in this truck was so much more worth it.

Re: new wiring harness

I want to put a wiring harness in my 71 C10 with a bb with hei. Does the wiring harness you are installing have the engine compartment harness too?
I have heard a lot of good things about the M&H harnesses but you guys are about to convince me to go to EZ instead. I have a 67 front clip on my 71 which would make the turn signal wiring different, would they customize one for changes like that?

Re: new wiring harness

To the best of my knowledge, they only make universal harness'.

http://www.ezwiring.com/

I don't suppose it'd hurt to ask 'em though.

Mine looks simple enough, I know more this week whan I start putting it in.

Re: new wiring harness

yes its universal so youd have to wire it yourself but its setup for 3 parts ... engine compartment the fuse block for the firewall...the cab dash aetc and then from the cab back. each loom is seperated theyre labeled but you can seperate them the way you want them ran. i did a binch of customizing to my kit just because i like to just its really simple just to wire it up normal
