67' Axle 5 Lug Conversion?
I have a 71' Chevrolet 1/2 ton with 3.07 gears. I'd like to put my 67' axle in which has 3.73 gears.
My question is... Can I use the 71' axles in the 67' housing and just get 2-3/4" wide drums? Seems to me to be the most affordable solution.

I think the axles will work and the brakes should be a 2" unless it's a 3/4 ton rear end.

Re: 67' Axle 5 Lug Conversion?
or take your axles out of yur 67 and have them redrilled for the 5 lug pattern. you will also have to have the hub machined to smaller diameter. this is what i did to my '69 axles when i converted front end to disc brakes from later model. don't remember how much it cost me but it was very reasonable. i think like $60- 80?
