any canucks order from summit or others

I was wondering if it is worth while to order parts from the u.s. now that our dollar is good.I find the parts here are still high in price, would the shipping bring the price back to can. prices.I was looking at a detroit locker at 435.00 in the states and the best I can do here in B.C. is 700.00

i order things from the states and to be honest they are still a bit cheaper by the time they get here, i order a fair amount of my stuff from there, but if i believe that i will need warranty on items, i order them locally, much easier to replace then and it is good for the economy.

i order from lmc quite a bit. i can get it here in town if i special order it, but they like to charge full retail plus shipping costs. and there mark up. so by the time i get it, its double in cost then if i just ordered it thru lmc myself.

Re: any canucks order from summit or others

ive ordered about 2 grand worth of stuff over the years from summit, as a matter of fact monday or tuesday i should have 4 big boxes coming from them, i ordered 2 sets of wheel vintique wheels from them, a set of vette ralleys with 5x5 for my 67 and a set of smoothies for my dads 31 ford p/u rat rod project. they are awesome. the only thing that sucks is the odd box gets stopped at duty and you get nailed with a fee. even so i still come out ahead of the game. id say order away with summit, they are great

Re: any canucks order from summit or others

I have been ordering a few things lately from the U.S., especially with our dollar buying a little more these days.

We live fairly close to the border and use a delivery address across the line. We then go across and pick it up and drive it back over. We have only ever paid GST. So far I have ordered from lmc, international chassi and a couple of others.

Whatever you do do not have UPS bring it over the border for you. Their fees and other charges can run as high as the parts you are bringing over. I am also opening up a post office box across the line, like many others have around here, to pick up smaller things or evn some catalogues from those who do not ship international. As if were international!!!

Anyway I am really happy with the service I have received in all cases but it is important to note that I was directed to most vedors by this and another chevy truck forum that I frequent.

Speaks of the value of the information we have at our disposal here.

Hope it helps somehow.
