Dual Exhaust

Hey I'm thinking of getting dual exhaust with glasspack mufflers. Im just wondering if that'd boost my power very much if anybody has any idea please let me know.

Re: Dual Exhaust

You'll feel a little power difference, mainly in throttle response, due to less restriction, but don't expect a total night and difference in power. The sound factor alone is worth the doing duals, but the few extra ponies are just a little bonus!

Re: Dual Exhaust

I have had both single and dual exhaust, and i never noticed a huge increase in power, all of my trucks always sounded better with the duals. I think dual exhaust helps the motor breath a little easier.

Re: Dual Exhaust

i, personally wouldnt go with glass packs though. There are so many mufflers out there that will give you a better tone than with glass packs. Im not telling you how to build your truck, just advising you to ask around, listen to other exhausts, and think it over. This could be the first impression that your truck gives out, since they will hear you coming!!!!!

Re: Dual Exhaust

The dual exhaust will open up the motor a bit but remember that engines do require some back pressure. I would skip the glass packs and go with Flowmasters they have a great note on V-8s.

On my 71 the duals exit before the rear tires. People know when I hit the gas.

An option for keeping a single exit is to use a larger diameter tube. Keep in mind that you need to service your vehicle and extra pipes under the frame equals extra stuff to move and reach around.

Re: Dual Exhaust

There`s all kinds of room for duals under these trucks. It`s the first thing every truck I but gets.

Re: Dual Exhaust

For what it is worth...I have worn out glass packs on mine with a big block. They are real poppy and rap out very noisy. I am going to magnaflows pretty quick just to get rid of the pop. When the glass packs are new they have a little more tone/depth in the sound but it does not take to long and the glass blows out. My son kind of describes my truck as sounding like a school bus.
